Members of the Bakken Pipeline Resistance Coalition, which included Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement (ICCI), Bold Iowa and 100 Grannies for a Livable Future, will be appearing in a Boone County courtroom tomorrow (Thursday) morning for arrests in late August. More than 150 protestors were on hand Wednesday, Aug. 31 in Boone County, blocking trucks from entering or leaving a Dakota Access staging area. Thirty people were arrested in that protest and they will be holding a press conference and rally following the hearing to talk about their arrests and the next steps in their fight against the building of the nearly $3.7 billion, 1,134 mile-long pipeline that will carry oil from the Bakken fields in northwest North Dakota into South Dakota, Iowa and Illinois. In Iowa, the pipeline will run diagonally 343 miles through 18 counties, including our regional counties of Buena Vista, Sac, Calhoun and Boone.
