Estimates and plans detailing the 2,400 square foot metal cemetery maintenance building that will house the work area, an office space and a break room are being developed for the City of Carroll by JEO Architecture, Inc. According to Parks and Recreation Director, Jack Wardell, the estimates for the building are coming in a little higher than the initial budgeted amount of $480,000.
The contingency is to cover changes that could have occurred in the eight month to one year time span that has passed since the original estimates were produced. City Clerk and Finance Director, Laura Schaefer said the city would use bonds to fund the building project, which have not yet been sold.
Wardell added that some of the additional increase amount in the cost changes came about after preliminary plans were drawn. They determined they needed to have an enclosed area for storing dirt along with some changes to plan for the future.
The plans, specifications and opinion of costs were accepted by the city and the project will move into the final design stages with JEO Architecture.
