Carroll County Supervisors Advance Three Asphalt Projects To Capture Significant Savings

Carroll County Engineer, Dave Paulson, said that a recent price drop in an asphalt component, the binder, has prompted the advancement of three farm-to-market road projects.

Paulson asked the Carroll County Board of Supervisors Monday to have these three projects  broken away from two other federal projects that would remain in fiscal year 2018. One of the proposed asphalt projects would be a mile near Swan Lake that comes into town by the old county shed. The other two are longer sections of roadways that are in need of attention.

Supervisor Mark Beardmore asked Paulson if he could provide an estimate of what the total savings would be if these projects were advanced by one year.

Paulson said the goal would be to put these three farm-to-market projects out to bid either this coming fall or February of 2017. Then once in fiscal year 2018, which begins in the fall of 2017, they would put the other two federal projects out for bid. The supervisors approved the advancement of these projects into this fiscal year.
