The Carroll Community School District Board of Education met today (Monday) briefly for some personnel discussions. There have been several resignations from the coaching staff in the district. Coach Tom Borchers has submitted his resignation from his position as coach of the varsity softball team. His resignation is contingent on finding a replacement coach. Nate O’Brien has also submitted a resignation to the board. Coach O’Brien served as the assistant varsity baseball coach. Marty Vanderheiden has resigned as coach of the middle school wrestling team, but Coach Vanderheiden was approved for the open assistant varsity wrestling coach spot. There was also one other approval. Hunter Harmening was approved for the school liaison officer position. This position will be shared with the Glidden-Ralston School District. His final approval is pending background checks with the Department of Criminal Investigation and Department of Human Services. The Board of Education will meet again later this month for a full board meeting.
