Carroll City Manager Gerald Clausen Will Focus Forward After Retirement

At the close of the next work week, Carroll City Manager, Gerald Clausen, will have emptied his office, said his goodbyes to staff members, elected officials and the general public, and will be moving on into the next phase of his career. With his official last day in the books Friday, July 29, Clausen and his wife, Beverly, will be relocating to Lincoln, Neb., his home state, to be closer to family members and old friends. Clausen said he is in no hurry to rush into something new, but he has had a serious conversation with a relative about writing a book.

Even the bad things that took place, he said, financially or otherwise, were learning experiences. The transition to their new home is already underway, and during the process, Clausen found his focus will be turning back to books again, just from a different perspective.

Clausen says that he and Bev will be staying in contact with some of the close friends they have made in the Carroll area after their move, but when it comes to keeping tabs with what is going on in the Carroll community, Clausen believes there needs to be a clean break.

What is his role, he said, is to let everyone know how deeply appreciative they both are of the many great years they have spent in Carroll.

There will be a chamber coffee and open house in honor of Clausen on Friday, July 29, at the Carroll City Hall, 112 E. 5th Street. The chamber coffee will be held at 8 a.m. and the public is invited to the open house from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday afternoon.
