Area Law Enforcement STEP Initiative Over Fourth A Success

Over this past Fourth of July weekend, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office partnered with the Iowa State Patrol to increase their presence on our area roadways with a goal of deterring traffic violations and increasing safety. And though a busy weekend that saw record numbers of drivers, Carroll County did not record any fatality accidents for the most dangerous driving weekend of the year. The Sheriff’s Office did report that there were 25 drivers cited for speeding and four for seatbelt violations. Two drivers were ticketed for driving while suspended and another two were issued tickets for open containers. In addition, there was one citation for dark window tint, one for a registration violation and 56 warnings were issued for various other infractions.
