Iowa Attorney General, Tom Miller, announced Tuesday that Iowa consumers who were wrongly overcharged for electronic books will receive an estimated $5.5 million in account credits or checks as early as this week, following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision earlier this year to decline a hearing for Apple, Inc. Apple had challenged a lower court ruling that it conspired to fix e-book prices. Consumers who ordered e-books through Amazon, Apple, Barnes and Noble or Kobo will automatically receive credits in their accounts unless they have previously requested checks. Consumers who bought e-books through Sony or Google will receive checks in the mail. Everyone receiving credits should receive a confirmation email between now and Friday. Credits can be used to purchase anything sold by these retailers, including e-books.
