A Jefferson man who reported an “assault” ended up in custody himself yesterday (Thursday). At approximately 1:26 p.m., the Jefferson Police Department responded to a report made by Nicholas Scott Lytle that he had been assaulted by a male at 611 West Adams Street. After an initial investigation, authorities learned a verbal argument had led to an estimated $1,000 in damage to Lytle’s 2007 Suzuki GSX-R1000 motorcycle. The unnamed suspect in the case reportedly picked up a bicycle and repeatedly struck the motorcycle with it. Damage was done to the fuel tank, windshield and handlebar grips. Once the officers had finished taking Lytle’s complaint, he was taken into custody for an outstanding Greene County Mittimus Arrest Warrant. Lytle had failed to serve jail time from a 2015 charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance—Marijuana. A Criminal Mischief complaint for the damages to the motorcycle remains under investigation.
