CCSD To Hold Public Forum On Hours Vs. Days Scheduling

The Carroll Community School District Board of Education meeting on Thursday, June 16, will open with a public hearing debating instructional scheduling on an hours vs. days basis. Currently, Iowa Code 256.7(19) allows districts to select between either 180 days or 1,080 hours of instruction, and a public hearing prior to adoption of either is required. The board will take action on this decision at the meeting as the district must submit their calendar information to the Department of Education with their Spring Basic Educational Data Survey (BEDS), due this month. Other agenda items will address starting and dismissal time changes for Fairview and Adams Elementary and a review of a bus camera proposal. The meeting will get underway at 6 p.m. Thursday evening in the Adams Elementary board conference room at 1026 North Adams Street.
