Heather Cain, CEO of Stewart Memorial Community Hospital and McCrary Rost Clinics in Lake City has announced she will be resigning effective in mid-July. Cain, who has been at the helm at SMCH for the past two and a half years, says she did not arrive at this decision lightly. Cain is not making this move to accept another position, but is focusing on and doing what is best for her family with a relocation to Boone. Cain says her time at Stewart Memorial has been very special to her and she values the experience she has gained and the relationships she has been able to form. Since Cain joined the team, the hospital has received national recognition, including: the Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award for Patient Safety; Studer Group Excellence in Patient Care Award for Room Cleanliness; and the Des Moines Register Top Workplace in Iowa award for two consecutive years. The search for a new CEO will be led by the SMCH board of directors and we will bring you more from Cain in a future broadcast.
