Carroll Library to host Artistic Trading Card workshop & Ivan the Reading Dog

Baseball and Pokémon are what come to most people’s minds when it comes to trading cards, but Carroll Public Librarian Kelsey Hall wants to introduce you to the world of Artistic Trading Cards (ATC). Each card is self-made and truly unique as it’s a reflection of its creator. Tuesday, May 10, the Carroll Public Library will be hosting a free ATC creation program with materials provided to make your own cards. Hall will be on hand to help creators make their tiny works of art uniquely their own. No registration is required; the program begins at 4:00 pm.

Then on Wednesday, May 11, Ivan the Reading Dog will visit the library in an effort to help kids improve their read-aloud skills as part of the Storytime program. Ivan is a certified therapy dog who works with PAWS in Motion and his handler, Mark Skillen, says children are able to form a bond of trust with Ivan as the dog patiently listens as they read him a story which builds a child’s confidence in their own abilities. Ivan the Reading Dog will be at the library’s reading room at 7:00 pm that evening.
