Inmate Does $500 In Damage At Carroll County Jail

The Carroll County Jail sustained approximately $500 in damages at the hands of 35-year-old Robert Oscar Whitenack, who became violent while being booked into the facility on Thursday, March 5. Whitenack was being sought for questioning by the Carroll Police Department about the violation of a no contact order, when a report came in that he had taken a vehicle without the owner’s consent. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office tracked Whitenack to Glidden, where he exited the vehicle and led authorities on a foot chase. He was apprehended and a substance suspected to be methamphetamine was found on his person. It was while being booked into the jail on charges of Interference with Official Acts, a simple misdemeanor, that the damage to the partition in a holding cell was done. For safety reasons, Whitenack was restrained until he had calmed down. Drug charges are pending results from the Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) lab. Criminal Mischief charges, an aggravated misdemeanor, will be added to those of interference and operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, which is also an aggravated misdemeanor.
