Sac City Storm Sewer Project Wraps Up Next Week

A storm sewer project in Sac City, which was in the works for over a half decade, will soon be completed. City Clerk Adam Ledford says the area between Saint Mary’s Catholic Church and the Sac Country Club had been plagued with problems prior to the project’s greenlight.

Those sinkholes start out as small holes in the ground, but each one had the potential to grow substantially larger from soil erosion so city crews were constantly filling them in. Ledford adds the old system was made up of less than ideal materials that were at least 60 years old, and when it was first dug up city officials weren’t even sure who had installed the lines as they were quite unique.

The storm sewer project is set to wrap up sometime next week, and now with the new larger lines creating a sealed system any possible havoc should be contained.
