Main Street in Wall Lake will be bursting with color as fourteen hanging flower baskets will soon be installed. The Wall Lake Hometown Pride group, the city of Wall Lake, the East Sac FFA, and community volunteers have all come together to bring the flower basket project into reality. City Clerk Chris Rodman says a $400 grant from Iowa Network Services was recently awarded to the project. Another $500 requested from the city and up to $2,400 from the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Committee will also go towards the costs of the 18” hanging baskets, hanging brackets, soil, and the purchase of a variety of colorful wave petunias. Rodman says the baskets will be hung from the light poles downtown, and adds he’s currently looking for volunteers to help keep the flower baskets watered throughout the spring and summer. If interested in volunteering please contact the Wall Lake City office at 712-664-2138.
