In late March the Mayor of Lake City, Tyler Holm, along with two residents traveled to Iowa’s Capitol in order to accept the Robert D. Ray Community Award for Excellence. The award is given out annually by the Keep Iowa Beautiful organization in recognition of a town or city for their efforts to enhance the beauty, cleanliness, and attractiveness of their community. Lake City’s nomination, says City Clerk Lee Vogt, was submitted by an area resident.
Diane and Tony Sommerfeld, along with the Mayor, were treated to lunch with Governor Terry Branstad during their visit to Des Moines. The Community Award for Excellence is currently on display at Lake City’s city hall.
