Community members on the Carroll Stadium Committee have been discussing what to do about a crumbling Carroll Football Stadium Complex since the beginning of this year. An update on the recommended plans, currently under development, will be presented on Monday to the Carroll Community School Board. So far the committee has decided razing the existing complex and building a new one would be the most cost effective option. Committee Member Brad Jorgenson, who also serves on the school board, says when it comes to replacing the home and visitor stands Carroll is in a unique situation.
The two proposals for new seating, Jorgenson says, includes building nearly identical east and west bleachers while a second option would offer more seating capacity on the field’s home-side.
The consulting firm, FRK architects + engineers, has worked with the district on numerous other projects; most recently on the Fairview Elementary School addition. No matter which plan the committee ultimately ends up recommending Jorgenson stresses the complex will not look like an “aluminum jungle.”
The committee’s aim, he adds, is to create a new stadium complex which is nice, to do it well, and to make it look great – all while being cost effective. The installation of an artificial turf playing field will also be a part of the recommendation presented to the CCSD school board at their regular meeting scheduled for Monday, April 18, at 6:00 pm in the board room at Adam’s Elementary school.
