On Monday night, the Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation announced the first recipient of funds from charitable profits at Wild Rose Casino Jefferson. The largest grant award of $124,000 was presented to the Raccoon River Valley Trail Association to be used for the paving of seven gravel road crossings within Greene County. Greene County Trail Manager, Dan Towers, said, “This is like Christmas for us!” as he thanked the gaming corporation for having trust and confidence in the groups working to improve the trail. Funds were also allocated to help with paving two crossings in Guthrie County, north of Panora. Other awards from charitable profits included grants to seven Greene County communities with $50,000 going to the city of Jefferson, over $68,000 to the Jefferson School District and nearly $11,000 to Paton-Churdan Community Schools. The Greene County Community Foundation, Greene County Medical Center, Genesis Development, the Jefferson Fire Department, the Mahaney Bell Tower Foundation and the Churdan Public Library were also among the many recipients of funds raised through gaming at Wild Rose Jefferson.
