The Iowa State Patrol, Greene County Emergency Medical Services, Alliant Energy, Churdan Fire Department and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single-vehicle accident at the intersection of Harding and Livingston Streets in Churdan at approximately 11:10 p.m. Saturday, March 26. A 2007 Chevrolet Impala, owned by Joseph Robert Hupp of rural Scranton, was being driven with the owner’s consent by 22-year-old Wade Ritchey Hoyle of Glidden. Hoyle struck a power pole and downed the power line. Charges are pending against Hoyle and several other passengers who were reported to have left the scene on foot. Hoyle later admitted being the driver of the vehicle.
