On Thursday the Carroll Community School Board (CCSD) ratified a one year contract agreement with the Carroll Education Support Association (CESA) for the 2016-2017 school year. Under the agreement hourly employees will receive a 28 cent increase in pay per hour with bus drivers’ earnings transitioning from monthly salaries to hourly wages. Drivers will receive a $38.00 per month increase on base for nine months which is calculated out to $11.46 of hourly pay. Superintendent Rob Cordes shared the total package increase.
In those three hours the two sides were also able to agree on the covered costs of monthly insurance premiums. Rates are projected to increase by 6.95% for 2016-2017, and in past years the district has covered 100% of the insurance costs. However, coming into the negotiations the district’s offered payout percentage was lower than the full coverage. The district, Cordes says, reverted back it’s prior 100% coverage when the total cost difference between the two proposals was realized.
The CESA contract agreement is effective from July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017.
