On Friday evening, March 18, at around 5:53 pm a report came in to Carroll County Authorities that an individual had been pinned by a large safe which the person had been moving into their basement. The Carroll Police Department, the Carroll Fire Department, and medics with the Carroll County EMS all responded to the scene and were able to remove the safe; freeing the trapped individual relatively quickly. Carroll Fire Chief Greg Schreck reported that the individual had been using a hoisting mechanism in order to move the safe down the stairs into the basement when the mechanism failed. Without the restraints the safe then slid down the stairs pinning the individual. The identity and status of the individual has not been released due to privacy laws.
