Eighteen-year-old Drowns In Farm Pond Near Dow City

Eighteen-year-old Bode Lloyd of Kiron died in a fishing accident on a farm pond near Dow City yesterday afternoon (Sunday) when the boat he was in capsized for unknown reasons, throwing all three occupants into the 30 degree water. KETV in Omaha reports it took nearly three hours before two Iowa dive teams were able to retrieve Lloyd at approximately 6:30 p.m. The transitioning seasons and runoff made the 12-foot-deep pond murky, requiring radar to assist the dive teams in locating the body. Eighteen-year-old Bradley Meeves and 19-year-old Isaac Devereux of Denison were uninjured in the incident and Crawford County Sheriff, James Steinkuehler, said the two did everything they could to save their friend. The accident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
