Schaller man answers knock at front door; leads to his arrest

What started out as an ordinary civic duty on Thursday afternoon, March 10, ended in an arrest by the Sac County Sheriff’s Office. Events began at around 10:00 am when a uniformed sheriff’s deputy arrived at a property, located at 412 West 3rd Street in Schaller. The deputy knocked on the door in order to serve a civil paper; it was opened by 23 year-old Cory Francis Urban. With the door open the deputy detected the smell the odor of marijuana emanating from within the duplex, and it was at this time that Urban was detained and a search warrant issued.

Then at 12:40 pm that same afternoon officials with the sheriff’s office served the warrant and proceeded to seize marijuana, smoking devices, and a scale following a search of the property. Urban was then placed under arrest and charged with 3rd subsequent possession of marijuana – an aggravated misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia – a simple misdemeanor. Urban was then booked into the Sac County jail on a $2,300 bond; he was later able to post the bond amount.
