Warrants To Be Issued For String Of Carroll Burglaries

Between Friday, Feb. 26 and Saturday, March 5, five burglaries were reported in the Carroll area; four occurring northwest of Carroll and one to the southeast. In each incident, the only items taken were prescription medications. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and the Carroll Police Department worked in conjunction to investigate the burglaries. Chief Deputy Ken Pingrey of the Sheriff’s Office announced today (Thursday), that the subject has been identified and has admitted to the crimes and that arrest warrants will be issued. Pingrey said these types of crimes are becoming more prevalent as it gets harder to obtain narcotics through medical channels. Typically, he said, they are non-violent offenders who will go from house-to-house knocking on doors and entering if they get no answer. In three of these five burglaries, the perpetrator entered the home while occupants were there. When confronted, they provided a neighbor’s name saying they had the wrong residence and then left. This is a cautionary tale, Pingrey said, to keep your doors locked as they typically won’t force entry. If you know someone is in your house, call 911 to report it and tell the person to leave. Be sure to get a good description and a license number if possible.
