An Ida Grove man wanted for attempted murder in Sac County was captured at a Fort Dodge Walmart late yesterday (Wednesday). KCCI-TV reports the Fort Dodge Police Department responded to a tip that 36-year-old Jeremy Werneburg was seen at the Walmart store located at 3036 1st Ave. S. The first officer on the scene, Matt Burns, suffered an injury to his left knee during an altercation in attempting to arrest Werneburg. Burns was forced to use his Taser to gain control. Werneburg is being held at the Webster County Jail and has been charged with Assault on a Peace Officer Causing Injury and Interference with Official Acts Causing Injury as well as the Sac County Attempted Murder charge. The Sac County Sheriff’s Office was searching for Werneburg on allegations that he purposefully struck a Glidden man with his vehicle on Sunday night outside the Carnarvon Inn.
