Cash Mob event in Jefferson draws interest and dollars to downtown

Part of Jefferson Matters: Main Street’s mission is to strengthen, support, and energize Jefferson’s downtown district and this past weekend over 30 people gathered to participate in the organization’s Cash Mob event. Participants came prepared to spend at least $20 at a randomly selected downtown business whose name was drawn from a hat. Those in attendance referred to themselves as “Economic Activists” as they headed off to the Ben Franklin/Tech Zone store where during an hour of shopping they racked up over $700 in reported sales. Once the group was spent they moved on to the Uptown Café for lunch where shopper’s receipts were then put into a hat with one lucky winner, Nancy Tuesch, winning a $25 gift certificate to the Sierra Theatre. The Cash Mob was organized by the Promotion Committee of Jefferson Matters: Main Street, and they plan to host similar events in future.
