Ar-We-Va & IKM-Manning to hold joint meeting this Monday

Members of the Ar-We-Va School Board will hold a joint meeting with the IKM-Manning School Board in Manning this Monday, February 15, at 6:00 pm in the library. In an effort to lower costs to their school district members of the Ar-We-Va school board have been charged with the tough decision of choosing between which of four neighboring school districts to work with to offer partial grade sharing classes to Ar-We-Va high school students.

Earlier this week members of the board made the difficult decision to delay picking a district when the board was split 3 to 2 in an unofficial vote. They will now take a more in-depth look at IKM-Manning’s test scores, enrollment numbers and the district’s long term viability. IKM-Manning’s financial offer came in $70,000 under an offer from Carroll Community schools which prompted the decision to hold a joint board meeting in an effort to be fair to all considered districts. The Ar-We-Va board is working as quickly as possible to come to a more unified consensus prior to making a final decision, which is now between CCSD and IKM-Manning, at a future board meeting where time will be allotted for public input prior to a final decision being made.
