Construction work on the fitness room at the Carroll Rec Center is well under way and there is still an anticipated completion date in May; that is barring any construction delays. Parks and Rec Director, Jack Wardell, said that while the community is excited about the updates and changes, there is some misinformation circulating about expanding the hours of accessibility. Right now, he said, there are no plans to offer 24-hour access.
Wardell said unlocking the door is the easy part of that proposition, but there are a lot of other things to consider and plan out before making the change.
As the city continues to explore their options for renovations, Wardell said they are planning only for the ability to offer this in the future. For now, the Rec Center will continue to post and hold their regular hours of operation from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
