On Wednesday evening the Carroll Community School District submitted their opening contract proposal to the Carroll Educational Support Association (CESA) which represents teacher associates, bus drivers, and other support staff. Aside from some minor language changes Superintendent Rob Cordes reports the board’s opening offer is for a total package of 1.36% and includes some adjustments to insurance premiums.
The offer also includes a 20 cent per hour increase for all hourly support employees; with bus drivers receiving a $20.00 increase per month. The district’s offer is for a one year contract, but Cordes says the district is open to entertaining the possibility of negotiating a 2-year contract if the CESA so desires. During their opening proposal members of the CESA did request that the district look into placing monitors or cameras on school buses. Cordes says that particular item is not a subject of mandatory bargaining.
Both sides will continue to negotiate during closed sessions until an agreement is reached.
