Early Friday morning, on January 8, a house fire claimed the life of a Breda resident. On Tuesday the Sac County Sheriff’s office released the name of the individual who died in the fire. The person has be identified as 48 year-old Daniel Robert Mielk who lived alone at the home which was located at 3285 390th Street in Sac County. The State Medical Examiner’s Office positively identified Mielk using dental records following the discovery of human remains in the burned out structure. Mielk’s cause of death is listed as smoke inhalation and thermal injuries. Foul play is not suspected. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
