Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Reports Three Christmas Eve Accidents

The Carroll County Sheriff’s office responded to three separate incidents related to slick roads on Christmas Eve. At approximately 10:49 a.m., 21-year-old Jasmine Janine Ku’umomi Grife of Scranton was unable to stop her 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier at the intersection of Highway 30 and Velvet Ave. east of Glidden and struck the rear of a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica driven by 48-year-old Kristine Renee Dreesen of Glidden. There were no injuries reported but there was $1,500 in damage to each vehicle. At approximately 11:19 a.m. 51-year-old Scott Lynn Kasperbauer of Glidden was traveling southbound on Velvet Ave. when his 2001 Chevrolet S10 was struck broadside at the intersection of 210th Street by a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 36-year-old Joseph Allen Subbert of Glidden, who was unable to stop. Neither driver was injured but there was $6,500 damage to the Kasperbauer vehicle and $8,000 damage to the Subbert truck. And at 12:31 p.m. on Highway 71 near 180th Street north of Carroll, 79-year-old Howard Barton Lohr of Lake City was driving northbound on 71 when he lost control of his 2006 Chrysler Town and Country. He traveled into the oncoming lane of traffic and was struck by a 2005 GMC Sierra K2500 driven by 20-year-old Justin Dean Weubker of Lanesboro. Lohr and his passenger, 69-year-old Elizabeth Louise Lohr were extracted from their vehicle by mechanical means and transported by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services to St. Anthony Regional Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Weubker did not report any injuries. There was an estimated $6,000 in damage to the Lohr vehicle and $4,000 to the Weubker vehicle.
