A Denison woman, 37-year-old Wendy Waldemar, died in a house fire at a residence in the 1500 block of 1st Ave. North Saturday morning. Firefighters were called to the residence at approximately 6:30 a.m. to find the home filled with smoke and flames. There had been a report that a woman was trapped inside. She was located in one of the bedrooms and taken to Crawford County Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Fifty-six-year-old Craig Streck was also in the home and was hospitalized for smoke inhalation. He is expected to make a full recovery. There has been no report on what caused the blaze. The incident remains under investigation by the Denison Fire and Police Departments and the State Fire Marshal.
