Manning will join the communities of Cherokee, Lamoni and Laurens as participants in the 2016 Iowa’s Living Roadways Trail Visioning Program. Each one of these communities will receive guidance, education and facilitation of planning processes for several different projects, including: trailhead planning; protection and enhancement of natural areas near trails; use of vegetation along trails; safety and comfort concerns; planning for directional signage; and incorporation of storm water management methods. Throughout the process, a Trees Forever field coordinator and a project team will work with participants and volunteers to create conceptual plans reflecting their vision. At the conclusion of the process, concept boards and a final trails report describing the proposed enhancements will be provided to each community. The Trails Visioning Program is a partnership between Trees Forever, the Iowa Department of Transportation, the Federal Highway Administration and the Living Roadway Trust Fund of Iowa.
