Throughout the month of October, St. Anthony Regional Hospital partnered with Champion Ford Lincoln, Motor Inn and Wittrock Motors to raise money and show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness and the breast cancer survivors in the Carroll area. Kevin Wittrock of Wittrock Motors, Mark Thomsen of Motor Inn and Darin Putney of Champion have all been personally touched by cancer and came together to make donations to St. Anthony for every oil change completed at their dealerships. Together, they raised $1,800 to be used for the purchase of three breast self-examination education simulator models. The simulators will be used by the St. Anthony Radiology department as well as the “Care for Yourself” public health program to educate about early detection. Julie Towne, an RN with Carroll County Public Health said, “Most women do not know what a lump in the breast feels like when performing a self-exam.” Having this hands-on tool available to them will be an invaluable educational tool.
