Fall Affair Set To Be A Night To Remember

The Family Resource Center will be hosting their 10th annual Fall Affair fundraising event next Thursday, Nov. 5th. This year’s event is not only a celebration of growth for the event itself, board member Mike Bach and fundraising chair Anne Collison said this year is marking a milestone for the Family Resource Center as well.

Collison, who has been leading the coordination of the Fall Affair for 10 years says they don’t want to design it like other, typical fundraising activities. As Bach said, it is meant to educate, but also to touch the hearts of the people in the Carroll Community. Through this event, they are able to showcase the variety of services offered.

The evening will get underway at 6:00 p.m. with wine, rye and food pairings from Hy-Vee. All Strings Attached orchestra will perform, followed by musical Group Two and a Half Guitars. Gary Rupiper has volunteered his services for a live auction that will feature items such as: a room at Wild Rose Casino Jefferson with tickets to the Oak Ridge Boys concert; a room at the Hotel Pattee in Perry, an iPad, a live Christmas tree and even the opportunity to take home the Hy-Vee chef for a specially prepared meal. Everything for the event is 100 percent donated, and this year, Hy-Vee will have a $2 cash bar with one-half of all proceeds being donated back to the Family Resource Center. In the past 10 years, the event, which began in the original Wittrock Motor Company building, has been designed to also showcase local businesses and organizations such as: the airport; Santa Maria Winery; Carroll County State Bank; the Wellendorfs; Windstar; and the armory. On this special anniversary, it will be returning to Wittrock Motor Company, but now on the hill. If unable to attend, Bach says there are many other ways to give.

Collison added that with the 35th anniversary, they have set a goal of $35,000 to be used for the Client’s Closet. Last year they raised $18,000, and although the goal is much higher, they would be thrilled with even $3,500 over last year’s total. The cost to attend is $40 per ticket, which can be purchased from any board member, picked up at the office at 502 West 7th Street or by calling the office at 792-6440 and they will have them delivered. To show their appreciation to all Carroll volunteer fire fighters, they are offering them a buy-one-get-one-free ticket offer. Those wishing to make donations to the live auction can contact the office or any board member.
