ConAgra Announces Headquarters Change From Omaha To Chicago

ConAgra, makers of Wesson Oil and Pam cooking spray announced yesterday they will be moving their headquarters out of Omaha to Chicago. The company, which has been a fixture in Omaha since 1922, employs nearly 3,000 people in the Omaha area. Company officials say this move is meant to save the company $300 million. There will be 1,500 jobs cut, but they will be keeping approximately 1,200 jobs in Omaha. No cuts are expected in the Council Bluffs workforce of 850 people or at the Fiddle Faddle plant in Lincoln that employs 100 workers. The move will start with 700 workers relocating to new offices in Chicago’s Merchandise Mart in the summer of 2016. ConAgra employs 31,500 people around the world and is best known for its Marie Callender line of frozen meals, Orville Redenbacher popcorn, Slim Jim snacks and Pam cooking spray.
