Disaster Assistance For Flooding Available In Guthrie County

Last week, Governor Terry Branstad issued a disaster declaration for Hamilton and Guthrie Counties; both of which were affected by major flash flooding at the beginning of the month. Guthrie County Emergency management will begin accepting applications for the individual assistance program for residents to help with cleanup and repairs from associated storm damage. Robert Kempf from Guthrie County Emergency Management and Tiffany Steensen of the Guthrie County Family Resource Center will be at the Bayard City Hall Wednesday, Sept. 30 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. to assist Northern Guthrie residents with completing applications. Those wishing to apply must bring proof of all forms of income for the past three months; picture IDs for all household members 18 and over; statements from any insurance company covering property damaged and an explanation as to why they won’t cover damage; receipts for any damages already paid for; estimates for repairs needed; and if a vehicle has been damaged, a current registration and proof of liability coverage. If anyone would like to fill out an application to bring to Bayard City Hall on the 30th, a copy of the application can be found below.
