Scam Education Workshop Coming To Carroll

Several times each month we hear reports of scams and financial fraud taking place, particularly against seniors. In fact, it is now estimated that one in five elderly individuals is the victim of some form of financial fraud. Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is teaming up with the Senior Volunteer Program to help educate seniors on how to identify scams and what they can do to protect their financial information. The free workshop, Savvy Seniors Avoiding Scams, will be held at the Carroll County Extension Office at 1205 W. U.S. Highway 30, Suite G on March 16, from 10 to 11 a.m. Carol Ehlers, a Human Sciences Specialist in Family Finance, from Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will be presenting the program and encourages those who have been the victim of a scam to bring their experience and the ways they were able to find resolution to the meeting. Though focused on seniors, all ages are welcome to attend. Registration can be done by calling the Extension office at 712-792-2364.
