A Carroll woman was transported to the hospital after damaging multiple cars and smashing through a wall in Carroll Wednesday morning. At approximately 9:21 a.m., 87-year-old Irma Reicks, of Carroll, was backing out of a parking stall at 714 North Simons Ave. in a 2011 Buick Regal and struck a parked 2009 Chrysler Town and Country van owned by North Central Sheltered Workshop in Fort Dodge. After striking the van, Reicks continued backing and entered the Northwestern Mutual agency through the front wall, striking a desk and damaging both the exterior and interior of the office. Reicks then drove forward and south toward 7th Street where she then struck a power pole, a phone box and a tree on the Iowa Savings Bank property. A 2015 Chevrolet Impala, owned by Iowa Savings Bank, was damaged by debris during the incident. Reicks was transported for medical treatment by family members, but no other injuries were reported. Estimated damage to the vehicles is over $20,000: $15,000 to the Reicks vehicle, $5,000 to the Chrysler van and $1,000 to the Chevrolet Impala. Property damage is estimated in excess of $25,000: $20,000 to the Northwestern Mutual building, $5,000 to the power pole and $1,000 to Iowa Savings Bank property. Charges are currently pending against Reicks. Carroll County Emergency Medical Services, Carroll Fire Department and Iowa State Patrol Assisted at the scene.
