Farnhamville, Iowa — Farmers Cooperative Elevator employee, 27-year-old Brett Steck of Gowrie, died yesterday (Thursday) after become engulfed in a bin of soybeans at the Farnhamville location. Steck entered the bin at approximately 9:00 a.m. to conduct a routine cleaning when the accident occurred. It was approximately 10:45 a.m. when emergency responders completed the extraction. Steck was properly supervised for the cleaning procedure and Farmers Coop representatives say a full investigation into the cause of the accident will be conducted. The Farnhamville, Gowrie and Rockwell City Fire departments assisted at the scene.
