Auditors across the region were kept busy late into the night as they tallied votes from area school board elections. The Carroll County Auditor’s Office was humming all day as absentee ballots were in high demand before the polls opened at noon for the five candidates vying for three open seats. Shortly after 8 p.m. the unofficial canvass of votes was in naming three new school board directors. Brad Jorgensen finished with 1,074 votes, Gina Badding with 1,068 and Jon Sampson with 1,042. Sixteen year school board veteran and current President, Kim Tiefenthaler was defeated, finishing the race with 594 votes while the final candidate, Julie Gore obtained 407 votes. The Glidden-Ralston School District voters elected incumbent Linda M. Buss and Todd Koehler to their two open seats. East Sac has filled three open spots by electing Chris Rodman, Lisa Drost and Jackie Mahler. Audubon school board winners are Incumbents Mark Nissen and Christine Konkler and newcomer Brittney Huey. IKM-Manning had three open seats on their ballots and the winning candidates are Zachery Meiners, Joe Maas and David Heller while the Ar-We-Va Community School District also elected three members with Denise Ragaller, Greg Oeser and Jeremy Smith winning those elections. Coon-Rapids Bayard elected four directors with Katie Mason representing District one, Timothy Lee for District two, Jason Rosenbeck winning for District three and Kyler South filling the vacancy in District five. South Central Calhoun saw three of five members elected in write-in campaigns with Kari Musselman, Tom Steinborn and Alan Wedemeyer winning for Districts one and two.
