The Titans used a big 1st inning, timely hitting and some flashy defense by Kinsey Batz at 3rd to hold on for their 3rd victory of the season. The Rockets cut it to 5-3 heading into the bottom of the 4th but couldn’t get any closer.

The Titans scored 5 runs in the 1st inning, picking up 4 hits. Sally Musselman walked to start the bottom of the 1st and moved to 2nd on a Sam Fister sac bunt. Kierra Hammen singled, scoring Kylee Schleisman who came in to run. Madison Schultz reached on a fielder’s choice, Emma Geno singled driving in a run, Brielle Korleski had an RBI sac fly, and Hallee Maulsby drove in 2 runs with a blast over the left field fence.

Ar-We-Va scored a run in the 2nd and added two more in the 4th when Hannah Kraus singled and scored on a single by Jadeyn Smith. Kora Obrecht had reached on an error and also scored to make it 5-3. After South Central Calhoun added a pair of runs in the bottom of the 4th Delaney Schurke singled to start the 5th by Kinsey Batz made a great diving catch on a line drive by Maggie Ragaller that looked like it could get into left field. Batz turned the double-play ended the Rockets threat.

South Central Calhoun heads to Sioux Central on Wednesday while Ar-We-Va will host West Harrison on Friday.

Kuemper scored 3-runs in the 1st inning but couldn’t manage another run as they fell in the opener of a double header. The offense garnered 8 hits with Kenzie Schon picking up 3 and Hailey Ostrander finishing with 2. Kamryn Venner, Kenadee Loew and Sophie Rohe had RBI. Ostrander, Kyndal Hilgenberg and Schon scored the runs.

Creston scored a run in the 1st and another in the 3rd but it was a 3-run 5th that gave them control of the game.

Kuemper finished the nightcap with 6 hits with Kyndal Hilgenberg leading the teams with 2 hits. Hailey Ostrander, Brianna Lux, Kenzie Schon each finished with a hit. Kamryn Venner had a solo home run. Venner, Schon, and Kenadee Loew had RBI.

Creston scored 3 times in the 1st and added 4 runs in the 5th to extend their lead to 7-1.

The Knights host Shenandoah on Thursday.

Carroll fell to 4-5 on the season as they pick up 4 hits and give up 11 hits. Josie Ayala and Chloe Gallegos each doubled and Ashley Onken and Sydney Haakenson both singled. Gallegos drove in Ayala in the 4th for their lone run.

The Tigers will look to rebound quick as they head to Boone on Wednesday.
