Honorable Mention

Jesse Knowles- Paton Churdan

The senior was 3rd on the team in scoring at 8.1 points per game while finishing 2nd in rebounds with 119. Though he isn’t a typical post player he gave the Rockets a stopper in the middle and led the team with 31 blocks. He paced the team from beyond the arc hitting at a 42% clip and at the free throw line at 74%.

 

Kaleb Fisher- Paton Churdan

The senior became a go to scorer for the Rockets leading the team at 12.1 points per game while also hitting 40% from the field to rank 3rd on the team. Fisher could get on a roll from behind the arc and finished with 44 made 3’s. Kaleb tied for the team lead with 38 steals.

 

Connor Brus- Paton Churdan

The junior had his best season of his career hitting a team leading 45-3’s and scoring 11.2 points per game to rank 2nd on the team. His 33% from beyond the arc ranked 3rd on the team. He also finished tied for third on the team with 21 steals.

 

Tyler Putney- Kuemper

The senior was one of the best on ball defenders this season and often times got the job of defending the opposing team’s best guard.  He wasn’t just a defender handling the point guard role for the team while finishing 3rd on the team in scoring at 8.1 points per game. He led the team with 57 assists and was 2nd in steals with 26. His 35% from 3 point range was 2nd on the team.

 

 

Kyler Rasmussen- IKM-Manning

The junior is one of the more unappreciated players in the area as his toughness and team leadership were vital to a team that thrived on playing tough defense. Rasmussen led the team with 77 assists and 42 steals. He was 4th on the team in scoring at 8.3 points per game but led the team with a 43% clip from beyond the 3 point line. His 68% from the free throw line was also a team high.

 

Colten Brandt- IKM-Manning

The senior had a terrific season though he battled through injuries all season. When healthy Brandt was a force inside hitting over 48% of his shots. He was outstanding on the mid-range jump shot especially from the baseline. His 9.1 points per game was tied for 2nd best on the team. He was able to pull down 89 rebounds though he missed several games and was limited in others.

 

Parker Behrens- IKM-Manning

Parker had a great senior season and became one of the most important Wolves. His athleticism and jumping ability allowed him to have success inside against taller players. He tied for 2nd on the team in scoring at 9.1 points per game while pulling down 123 rebounds to rank 2nd on the team. His 47.7% from the field was 2nd on the team and his 16 blocks were a team high.

 

Brigham Daniel- Glidden Ralston

The junior was a big part of the reason the Wildcats saw a huge jump this season from 0 wins last season to 6 this year. His ability to get to the rim allowed him to score 11.7 points per game which was 2nd on the team. He shot 41% from the field. His 64 assists were a team high as were his 46 steals. Daniel was 2nd on the team with 73 rebounds.

 

 

Tyler Schmitt- East Sac

The sophomore didn’t crack the starting lineup this season but still became a vital part of a team that went 16-7. He is a tremendous rebounder and finished with 108 (2nd on the team) with 71 of those on the defensive side. Schmitt scored 7.7 points per game and hit 58.1% from the field.

 

Tanner Oswald- Coon Rapids Bayard

The sophomore became one of the best young players in the area by the end of the season and was a vital part of the Crusaders finishing 13-10. He finished the season 2nd on the team at 9.5 points per game and hit 38.5% of his shots. He was just shy of reaching the century mark with 94 rebounds. His 40 assists were 2nd on the team and his 22 steals also ranked 2nd on the team.

 

Kade Schlepp- Coon Rapids Bayard

The senior put together a solid season to close out his hoops career. He led the Crusaders with 63 assists while having only 38 turnovers as a point guard.  His defense was stellar as well leading the team with 36 steals. He finished 3rd in made 3’s but led the team with 37% from beyond the arc. He also pulled down 68 rebounds.

 

Gabe Obert- Coon Rapids Bayard

The sophomore entered the season with a lot of pressure to be a team leader and he didn’t disappoint. He led the team at 13.4 points per game while hitting 42.4% from the field. Obert also pulled down a team high 103 rebounds. His 30 made 3’s was 2nd on the team. Obert is extremely athletic and strong which allows him to be a very good on ball defender.

 

 

 

Tory Feldman- Carroll

The junior found his role with an outstanding team and did it very well. He rebounded and played defense while attacking the basket of offense and helping to get his teammates involved. Feldman was 2nd on the team with 105 rebounds and 2nd in assists with 43. His 36 steals ranked him 4th. Though he wasn’t asked to shoot a lot he still knocked down 44.4% from the field.

 

Kelin Jones- Carroll

Jones was an undersized post who grew up playing guard so his foot work helped his have success against bigger players and his quickness allowed his to beat guys off the dribble. Jones averaged 7.9 points per game and pulled down 94 rebounds which ranked his 3rd on the  boards. He had a team high 55.5% field goal percentage.

 

Gavin Smith- Audubon

The sophomore used great athleticism to have a great season on the boards with 173, 99 defensive and 74 on the offensive side which helped him average 7.8 points per game. Smith was undersized inside but was often times quicker and just more aggressive than the guys he was matched up with. His 47.1% from the field paced the way for the Wheelers.

 

Marcus Olsen- Audubon

The senior had an uncanny ability to get to the rim and get shots off. This helped him become a better scorer as the season went on and he became a vital part of the offense the last 2/3 of the season. He finished with an 8.4 points per game average. His 106 rebounds ranked 2nd on the team and his 36 steals were a team high. His ability to get in the lane also helped him dish out 32 assists which ranked 2nd on the team.

 

 

Skyler Schultes- Audubon

The senior was the leading outside threat and was very good from the corners and used that to hit a team high 39.1% from beyond the arc. His 11.8 points per game were a team high and his 98 rebounds tied him for 3rd on the team. As defenses attempted to take the corner shot away he began to drive to the basket and was able to attack the rim. He shot 43.3% from the field.

 

Cooper Kock-Ar-We-Va

The sophomore was one of the best rebounders in Class 1A this season and pulled down a team high 219 boards which was over 70 more than anyone else on the team. His unrelenting effort is what made him a special rebounder. Kock scored 7 points per game which was 2nd on the team.

 

3rd Team

Colby Christensen- Carroll

The junior is a great on ball defender and took the role as the team stopper, always defending the opponent’s best scorer as the guard and wing position. He routinely held guys under the season average. This didn’t stop him from excelling on the offensive end. He was a 38.2% shooter from 3 and loved the corners. His 8.2 points per game ranked 4th on a balanced team. He finished the season with 39 steals.

 

 

Colby Keller- IKM-Manning

The senior put together is best season leading the Wolves in scoring (9.6 PPG), rebounds (131) and being 2nd on the team in assists (73) and steals (34). Keller shot 46.2% from the field and 37.8% from 3 point range while hitting a team high 90-3’s.

 

 

Landon Schleisman- South Central Calhoun

The senior had an outstanding season as he balanced basketball with wrestling. Schleisman averaged 10.2 points per game while shooting 44.5% from the field and a team high 39% from 3 point range. Landon dished out 69 assists which was 2nd on the team along with having 57 steals which was 3rd on the team. He also grabbed 76 rebounds. Schleisman was strong enough to get to the rim while also being effective enough on the perimeter to keep defenses honest.

 

Nathan Brant- Glidden Ralston

Brant bounced back after a junior season that saw him miss time with an injury and became a leader on both ends of the floor. He led the team in scoring at 12.7 points per game and shot 46% from the field. He pulled down a team high 124 rebounds which nearly twice as many as anyone else on the team.

 

Colby Vincent- Carroll

The senior hit several clutch shots this season including a tough 3 from the corner that sent the game in Harlan to overtime and helped the Tigers pick up the win. Colby averaged 9 points per game and shot 35.2% from 3 point range. He may have been at his best when patrolling around the free throw line and hitting the mid-range jumper and finding teammates with the kick out. Vincent will continue his career at Morningside.

 

2nd Team

Cole Corey- South Central Calhoun

The junior became a huge part of the Titans success this season with his ability to get in the paint, score or find teammates for easy buckets. He was one of the top all around players in the area scoring 11.3 points per game while dishing out 72 assists and 49 steals. The point guard also pulled down 70 rebounds. Corey hit 40.7% from the field.

 

Brennan Holder- South Central Calhoun

The junior used his strength and athleticism to have a great year on the boards and scoring the basketball inside and out. Holder had a team high 157 rebounds and averaged 12 points per game which was 2nd on the team. He shot 41.9% from the field and hit a team leading 48-3’s. His 55 assists were 3rd on the team and his 47 steals were also 3rd on the team.

 

Cole Collison- Kuemper

The senior was vital to the Knights this season and helped them on their run at the end of the year and the playoffs. Collison was a calming influence on the floor while being one of their top defenders and scorers. He led the team with 33 steals and finished 2nd in scoring at 8.7 points per game. Collison was also 2nd in rebounding with 123. His 17 block shots were 2nd on the team. He shot 44.4% from the floor.

 

Kaleb Booth- Carroll

The sophomore became an important part of a Tiger team that spent part of the season ranked #1 in Class 3A. He came on strong as the season went on-on both sides of the floor finishing 3rd on the team in steals with 37 and 2nd in scoring at 9.6 points per game. He shot an incredible 53.1% from 3 point range on 81 attempts and 53.3% from the field. He also led a great free throwing shooting team at 88.6% with kids with more than 20 attempts. Booth added 53 rebounds.

 

Will Ragaller- Ar-We-Va

The sophomore paced the Rockets in most of the major statistical categories even though opposing teams knew he was the only player with much experience coming back. Ragaller scored a team high 15.6 points per game and had the most made 3’s with 34. He pulled down 147 rebounds which was 2nd on the team though he played point guard. He led the team with 68 assists and 52 steals.

 

1st Team

Kyle Berg- Kuemper

The senior has a motor that never quits which allowed him to put together a tremendous senior campaign. Double-Doubles were 2nd nature to him this season and several times he nearly had a 20-20 game. Berg led the Knights with 14.6 points per game, 51.6% from the field, 222 rebounds, and 18 blocks. His rebounding total was nearly double anyone else on the team. His ability to score against bigger guys in the post often time got him compared to Hall of Famer Kevin McHale for his use of pump fakes and his outstanding footwork.

 

Camden Schroeder- East Sac

The junior had a special season and was one of the players mentioned as Player of the Year. His range allows him to draw defenders outside and then he can beat them off the dribble and is outstanding in the mid-range game.  He is an accomplished defender inside and led the team in block shots making him effective on both ends of the floor. Schroeder scored 22.5 points per game and hit 62.3% from the field and 43.6% from 3 point range. His 216 rebounds were a team high and his 64 assists ranked 2nd on the team. He also made 30 steals. Cam is also a very good free throw shooter at 83.8%.

 

Griffin O’Neill- East Sac

O’Neill set a school record for most made 3’s in a game with 9 against Manson NW Webster in a playoff matchup. He hit 42.3% of his shots from beyond the arc and shot 49.8% from the field while averaging 14 points per game. Griffin moved to the point guard role midway through the season and ended up leading the team with 76 assists while pulling down 74 rebounds which was 3rd on the squad. His 52 steals were also a team high.

 

 

1st Team-Co-Player of the Year

Karter Lein- Carroll

Lein followed up a solid junior season with an outstanding senior campaign helping to guide the Tigers to a 19-4 record and a #1 ranking twice this season. He had a knack for hitting big 3’s early to help his team get the momentum while also being so strong going to the rim or pulling up at the elbow for a jumper. His 15.5 points per game was a team high while his 38 made 3’s ranked 3rd. He shot 46.2% from the field and 41.3% from 3. He led the Tigers with 107 rebounds as the point guard and led them with 95 assists and 41 steals. His 9 block shots were also a team high.

 

1st Team- Co-Player of the Year

Zane Neubaum- South Central Calhoun

The senior came back after the Christmas break and helped the team win 12 straight games and win their 2nd straight Twin Lakes Conference finishing at 19-5. He will go down as one of the best players in Titan history as their all-time leading scorer and single-season scorer. He didn’t just do it on offense as he is one of the top defensive players in school history. Neubaum averaged 25.2 points per game and shot 56.8% from the field including 38.8% from 3 point range. He was an 80.4% free throw shooter. He led the team with 72 steals and had 46 assists. He did all of this while playing with a shoulder that limited his ability to play inside the 3 point line on offense and inside the lane on defense. Prior to his injury in the 3rd game of the season he was one of the elite rebounders in the area.

 

Coach of the Year

Randy Bissen- Carroll

Bissen wrapped up his 4th season at Carroll with a 19-4 record and a 2nd place finish in the Raccoon River Conference. The Tigers spent time at #1 in Class 3A twice this season. Three of the 4 losses this season came to teams playing in the State Tournament and the other was an overtime loss on the road. Bissen improved to 56-24 at Carroll and his teams have improved their record each year at the helm. The Tigers outscored their opponents this season by an average of 14.7 points per game doing most of their damage in the 2nd half this season and dominating most 4th quarters. Bissen was named the Rewind Coach of the Year two season ago as well.
