IKM-Manning At Panorama- Class 2A Region 3

Panorama 69

IKM-Manning 65

Foul trouble played a huge role for both teams on Friday night as the teams combined for 71 free throws and 50 fouls. Panorama knocked down 31-41 while IKM-Manning was 20-30 including hitting 15-18 in the 1st half while building a 39-24 lead. The Wolves led early 7-1 but Panorama stormed back and went up 10-9. It appeared IKM-Manning had regained control late in the 1st quarter as they kept attacking the basket off the press and getting to the free throw line. They reclaimed the lead at 13-12 and began to pull away in the 2nd quarter when the Panthers left Nicole Hanson open from deep. Hanson hit 5-3’s as the Wolves looked like they could run and hide. Payton Beckman hit a runner at the halftime horn from in the lane and the Wolves were up 39-26. Things changed midway through the 3rd when Alexa Ahrenholtz picked up her 4th foul and would sit until about the 3:30 minute mark of the 4th. Panorama fell down quickly by 11 when she left the game but then went on a run outscoring the Wolves 25-9 to go up 49-48 early in the 4th.  Their largest lead had been 2 early in the game but they quickly built the lead to 6 and Ahrenholtz came back in. Moments later she fouled out and the Wolves were in trouble. The Panthers forced the Wolves to foul and hit their free throws down the stretch. The Panthers outscored the Wolves 31-20 in the 4th quarter. Lexi Branning was the only offensive threat in the 2nd half as the Panthers didn’t let Hanson get many looks and the rest of the team combined to score 7 points after half. Branning had 19 of her team high 25 in the final two quarters. Hanson finished with 15 points.  Branning added a team high 9 rebounds while Bianca Cadwell finished with 8 and a team high 4 assists. Ahrenholtz also had 4 assists. Emily Kerkhoff had a team high 4 steals. The Wolves wrap up the season at 17-6.
