23-25, 25-21, 25-13, 23-25, 15-9

Glidden Ralston closed out the fifth set with 8 points in a row to rally from down 9-7 to win 15-9 and improve to 7-5 overall and 3-1 in the Rolling Valley Conference. The hard loss dropped the Rockets to 3-3 overall and 2-3 in the Rolling Valley Conference. The Rockets had been the team rallying earlier in the match having trailed 21-18 and 23-21 in set 1 before rallying for a 25-23 win. After the Wildcats pulled out wins in sets 2 and 3 they would come out in set 4 and looked like they would put the match away. Glidden Ralston built a 15-8 lead in the 4th set and event led 22-18 late before Paton Churdan stormed back and grabbed a 24-23 lead and went on to win 25-23. The Rockets used that momentum to go up 2-0 in set 5 before Glidden Ralston answered with 3 straight. Paton Churdan grabbed the lead again at 4-3 and then again at 8-7.

Most of the night Danielle Hoyle and Gretchen Wallace showed the high level they play with at the net as both finished with high double digits in kills. The Glidden Ralston run in the 5th was spurred on by Morgan Koehler and Kim Daily. Daily kept finding Koehler who finished with 12 kills with most of them coming in the 4th and 5th sets. In the long run it was Glidden Ralston’s balance at the net that was the difference. Wallace, Morgan and Vanessa Koehler and Alicen Dreessen all had big plays at the net late.

Wallace the balanced attack with 16 kills, Morgan Koehler had 12, Vanessa Koehler 10 and Alicen Dreessen 6. Kim Daily did a great job moving the ball around and finding the hot hitters in key moments as she finished with 44 assists. Wallace added a team high 5 blocks and Vanessa Koehler finished with 3 aces.

Danielle Hoyle led Paton Churdan with 25 kills while Karissa Stephenson, Carmyn Paup and Tessa Steimel each had 5. Chloe Berns had 38 assists.
