Kuemper Vs Treynor At Tri Center- Class 2A Sub-State 8

Kuemper never led but only trailed 2-1 heading into 7^th inning. Treynor added a run in the 7^th and then got Kuemper in order in the bottom half. The Knights wrapped up the season at 14-9.

Kuemper played well on defense and got a solid pitching performance from Austin Tigges who allowed 6 hits over 7 innings and gave up just 3 runs but the Knights were held to 3 hits and struck out 14 times. Kyle Berg singled in the 1^st inning but Kuemper was picked off at 1^st base. Blake Pottebaum doubled driving in the lone run in the 4^th and Trevor Rial singled in the 5^th. Kumeper had a chance in the bottom of the 6^th when Truman Haukap led off and was hit by a pitch. He moved to 2^nd on a balk and took 3^rd on an errant throw on a pick off move. Kuemper had the 3^rd, 4^th and 5^th batters in the lineup coming to the plate with the tying run at 3^rd and nobody out. Drew Petersen settled down and struck out the next 3 batters to end the inning.

Kuemper did score in the 4^th when Berg was hit by a pitch. Michael Pottebaum came in to run for him and stole 2^nd, then scored on a double to left-center by Blake Pottebaum. The Knights did have runners on first and second in the 5^th but did have 2 outs at the time and didn’t score.

Treynor scored their first run in the 2^nd inning when Will Halverson doubled and scored on a single by Kaden Snyder who came in to pinch hit. The Cardinals added a run in the 3^rd. Kristian Martens doubled and scored on a sac fly by Petersen. The final run came in the 7^th when AJ Schiltz singled and moved to 2^nd on a throwing error on a pickoff attempt. He scored on a single by Ryan Bach.

Kyle Berg, and Rial singled and Blake Pottebaum doubled for the Kuemper hits.   Austin Tigges took the loss going 7 inning, allowing 6 hits and 3 runs with 7 strikeouts and walked 2.
