Roland Dean Heuton of Albert City

Roland Dean Heuton, age 84 of Albert City, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 16, 2020, at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Albert City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert City with Rev. John Mayer officiating. Casket bearers will be Jake Heuton, Tyler Heuton, Dallas Heuton, Matt Kestel, Travis Van Genderen, Travis Hatland, Matt Stafford, and Eli Marlow.  Honorary casket bearers will be Melissa Van Genderen, Cassidy Hatland, Laura Kestel, Alicia Heuton, Stephanie Heuton, Shelby Stafford, Caitlyn Marlow, Erin Heuton, Bailey Heuton, and Morgan Heuton.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at the Carroll City Cemetery in Carroll.

Friends may call at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert City from 5 – 7 on Monday evening.  Additional visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 A.M. until 10:15 A.M. on Tuesday.  Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com

Roland was born in Carroll, Iowa on March 1, 1935, the son of Clarence and Lorraine (Wohlenberg) Heuton. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanual Lutheran Church in Lidderdale, Iowa. He graduated from Carroll High School in 1953. On May 15, 1955 he married his high school sweetheart, Marlene Boell at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll.

While living in the Carroll area, he worked for the City of Carroll and then farmed near Glidden until they moved to Albert City in 1970. He continued farming and worked at Metal Master until retirement. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert City and a devoted husband caring for his wife, Marlene until her death in 2002. He enjoyed his annual hunting and fishing trips with his sons, helping son Tim farm and spending time with his family. He also liked traveling, playing cards and fishing with his friend, Darlene Onken.

He is survived by four sons:  Randy and his wife Carol, Tim and his wife Kathy and Brad and his wife Deanna all of Albert City and Gary and his wife Traci of Laurens; grandchildren: Melissa (Travis) Van Genderen, Cassidy (Travis) Hatland, Laura (Matt) Kestel, Jake (Alicia) Heuton, Tyler (Stephanie) Heuton, Shelby (Matt) Stafford, Dallas (Erin) Heuton, Caitlyn (Eli) Marlow, Bailey Heuton and Morgan Heuton; great-grandchildren: Sam, Finley, Clara and Eli Van Genderen, Addison and Aiden Hatland, Cole, Will, Ben, Ty and Eva Kestel, Chase, Kade and Tyce Heuton, Quinn and Joss Heuton, Madison and Emery Stafford and baby Heuton “On the way”; two sisters: Viona (Frank) Gute of Carroll and Verna Craig of Muscatine, Iowa; sister-in-law Violet Boell of Carroll; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Roland was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene, his parents Clarence and Lorraine Heuton, his in-laws Floyd and Eva June Boell, daughter Suanne Heuton, daughter-in-law Neva Heuton, great-grandson Reeve Heuton, and brothers; Duane, Dennis, and twin brother Roger Heuton.
