Robert “Bob” Broich of Carroll

Robert “Bob” Broich, 94 of Carroll, died Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.
Private Family Services will be held at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll.  Officiating will be Fr. Timothy Schott.  Casket Bearers will be Bob’s children.  Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Sharp Funeral Home, 226 W. 8th St., Carroll, IA 51401 for the Robert Broich family for a later designation.
Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for Bob’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com.
Born on August 2, 1925 at Willey, Iowa, Robert was the son of John J. and Emilia (Neppl) Broich.  He attended St. Mary’s School in Willey.  After graduation Bob worked for area farmers as well as helping his parents with their farm operation.  On December 29, 1948, Bob was united in marriage to Edra Weeks at Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids, Iowa.  The couple raised their family and farmed in the Willey area. In 1965 they bought their farm east of Viola Center.  In 2001, following their retirement, Bob and Edra moved to Carroll.
Bob enjoyed fishing, playing cards, woodworking and tending to the farm.  His greatest joy was spending time with his family.  Bob was a member of St. John Paul II Parish – St. Lawrence Church in Carroll.
Bob is survived by his children: Marcia (Martin) Hanson of Audubon, Mary Lou Collins of Omaha, NE, Mark (Jan) Broich of Ossian, Marlys Yawarsky of Carroll, Marty (Kay) Broich of Alta, Marita (John) Grebl of Omaha, Mike (Shelly) Broich of Boone; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; his siblings: Clayton (Bernita) Broich of Carroll, Delores (Vern) Langel of Omaha, Marilyn Snyder of Breda, Joleen (Ron) Klocke of Carroll, John (Mary Jo) Broich of Carroll, and Laurel Jean (Denis) Heithoff of Carroll; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Yvonne Broich of Carroll, Twilla Hoffman of Carroll, Dale (Roberta) Weeks of Seymour, Shirley Weeks of Marshalltown, and Phyllis Weeks of Ankeny; as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended relatives.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his sons-in-law: Dennis Yawarsky and Bill Collins; and his brothers: Marvin, Thomas, and Jerome Broich.
