Jane Bruening of Mt. Carmel

Jane Bruening, age 66, of Mt. Carmel, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 24, 2020 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Mt. Carmel. The Celebrant will be Fr. Andrew Hoffman.  Con-Celebrant and Homilist will be Fr. Gary Snyder. Music will be by Nancy Lemker and the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Choir. Mass Servers will be Owen Nepple and Grant Nepple. Lector will be Chris Pudenz. Gift Bearers will be Jane’s grandchildren: Gus, Hank, Landan, Linkin, Amelia, and Avah. Eucharistic Minister will be Annette Haberl. Casket Bearers will be Joe Berger, George Berger, Tom Meiners, Dennis Ludwig, Jim Berger, and Scott Stork. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The St. Anthony Medical Records Department Staff will form an honor guard for the funeral mass.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 2 p.m. on Sunday where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 5 p.m. The casket will be moved to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church on Monday morning where visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.  Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, and online condolences may be left for Jane’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com.
Jane, the daughter of Joseph and Viola (Lange) Berger was born on June 17, 1953 at Carroll, Iowa. She grew up in Carroll, and graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School. On April 27, 1979 Jane was united in marriage to Wayne Bruening at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll.  The couple made their home near Mt. Carmel. At the age of 17, Jane accepted a position as a Medical Transcriptionist at St. Anthony Hospital in the medical records department, a position she held until her passing. In addition to her
career at St. Anthony Hospital, Jane was a devoted wife and mother, raising their three children. Jane adored her grandchildren, and making sure she always stayed up to date on them and their activities. She also enjoyed reading, and socializing with her friends and family.  Jane was a dedicated Iowa State Athletics Fan, cheering on the Cyclones every opportunity that was possible. Jane was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish.
Left to celebrate Jane’s life is her husband of 40 years Wayne Bruening of Mt. Carmel. Children:  Ross (Alexandra) Bruening of Omaha, NE and their children: Gus and Hank; Ryan (Sarah Billmeier) Bruening of Carroll, and their children: Landan, Linkin, Ameila, and Avah; and Chelsea Bruening of Denver, CO. Also surviving is her brother: Ronald (Marian) Berger of Carroll; and
brother-in-law: Neal Bruening of Carroll; as well as many extended relatives and friends.  Her parents, Joe and Viola Berger, preceded Jane in death.
