Mass of the Christian Burial for 70-year-old, Melvin Ludwig of Auburn will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Auburn. Burial with military honors will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Auburn, immediately following the funeral mass. Friends may call at St. Mary’s Church in Auburn after 4:30 pm on Wednesday where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 5:30 pm and a Rosary will be prayed at 7 pm. Visitation will resume at St. Mary’s Church on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:15 am. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for Melvin’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com. Melvin is survived by his children: Tim Ludwig of Auburn, Bret Ludwig of Lake View, Laurie Hofbauer of W. Des Moines, Julie Fiala of Grimes; his companion, Kris Minnihan of Auburn; his siblings: Merle Ludwig of Auburn, Roger Ludwig of Breda, Earl Ludwig of Auburn, Phyllis Steinkamp of Breda, Bev Bruning of Breda, Russ Ludwig of Breda, Norma Wessling of Breda; and 11 grandchildren.
