Kenneth Teter of Coon Rapids

     Kenneth Neal Teter, age 90, of rural Coon Rapids passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2019 at his home near Coon Rapids.

     Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, December 9, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids with Rev. Joyce Webb officiating.  Organist for the service will be Lula Garnes and vocalist will be Amy Griffin.  Burial will be in the Orange Township Cemetery near Coon Rapids.

     Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids from 5 – 7 P.M. on Sunday evening.  Additional visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church from 10 – 10:45 A.M. on Monday.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhhouse.com

     Kenny was born at home in Orange Township on February 13, 1929 to Berthal and Opal (Trucks) Teter in Guthrie County. He was raised by his uncle and aunt Clarence and Edith (Harris) Teter. He spent most of his life on the family farm. Kenny was united in marriage to Gladys Betts on November 17, 1947 in Guthrie Center. They lived in Omaha, Nebraska for a very short time then moved to Des Moines for a year and a half. He worked for Brown Body, Mag Electric and a filling station. Gladys worked at Younkers in alterations. Moving back to the family farm, to the home he was born in, which was nearly a century farm by then, and had no plumbing or electricity but would have electricity soon. After the family starting growing they switched places with Clarence and Edith where he spent the rest of his life. Kenny loved the farm but when he couldn’t farm anymore, Kenny and Gladys would enjoy being a hub for family and extended family and friends to come back and relax. They also enjoyed driving anybody needing a ride to a doctors appointments in Ames and Des Moines for years.

      Kenny is survived by his wife Gladys of Coon Rapids; his daughter Connie McPherson of Coon Rapids; his daughter Debbie Gust (Greg) of Brayton; son Rick Teter of St. Joseph, MO; his daughter Susan Lord (Jason) of Carroll; his daughter Pamela Eischeid (Tony Derner) of Dedham; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother Richard Teter (Faby) of Arroyo Hondo, NM; sisters: Donna Bylund of Avoca; two sisters: JoAnn Knowles of Carroll, Sharon Crissey of Ottumwa; a sister-in-law: Rose Teter of Ogden; and many nieces and nephews.

 Kenny was preceded in death by his parents Berthal and Opal Teter; and his father and mother-in-law Beryl and Eunice Betts; siblings Morris Teter (infancy), Darlene (Darrell) Wilson, Gene Teter, Pat (Elmer) Nielsen, DeWayne Teter; and brothers-in-law Carl Bylund and Harlan Crissey.
